PRIORITIZATION OF WOMEN’S CAREER

Career is a term that amalgamates various jobs, entrepreneurship, or any work of passion that an individual determines to pursue during his/her span of life. It is the right of every individual to select their stream of interest and build their profession accordingly. On the contrary, women are deprived and bribed of this legitimate right which is quite saddening. In a world that possesses diverse professions, we still have minds which choose to put a girl’s career at stake.

At the educational level, female students pursue fields/subjects that equip them with knowledge and skills at the same level as their male counterparts. It shows that if women are provided with the same opportunities given to men, women will excel in all aspects of life. On the other side of the coin, families aren’t interested in allowing their daughters to reach greater heights in their interested field. This part of the society which doesn’t encourage their daughters to fly are the ones who deeply pressurize their sons to construct a steady profession for themselves.

Matrimony is the antique and archaic weapon used to demolish a woman’s career. A career of her dreams is sold at the mere cost of marriage. She is pushed to accept the terms of marital life and expected to sail through it meekly.

There still exists a society that shatters a woman's career using marriage and childbirth as bribes. Society makes sure to instill that it is a woman's sole responsibility to take care of the family, thereby constraining her between the ruggedly constructed walls of marital status and domestic chauvinism. A woman is positioned to sacrifice her career for her family. Society tags her personality accordingly.

Additionally, most families do not permit their daughters to indulge in professions related to the media and cinema industry. Society considers it a sin to let their daughters participate in television and cinema projects. Women are emotionally strangled by the opposition posed by their family members and face extreme hardships throughout the process.

The way we prioritize a woman’s career speaks volumes about our ideologies as a society. Belittling a woman’s potential will never make you any stronger or wiser than them. Pave the way for your mothers, sisters, spouses and daughters to reach their set goals in life, for you can righteously take pride in their success.
