Not Just Another Creation: Redefining "Woman"

Woman, not just another creation in this universe… a devoted source to bring new lives into this world… The world is said to align with certain norms that society has drafted to bring out the best in what has been given, but it has somehow put women on the bad side by weighing them with “expectations.” 

There are a lot, a lottttttt of beliefs that can be sensed in the not-so-clean air around us, and I believe they should be redefined, especially when it’s “Women should stay home and manage the family.” Dude, like, why can’t men do it? Well, I’m not being a hot - headed feminist here; I’m just saying that in most of the families—not all, but yeah, in most of the families—men put all such responsibilities on women, expecting the best outcome. My question is, “Why can’t they take part in it? Why can’t they share the responsibilities?”

This leads to a society where women are often judged by outdated standards. The idea that a woman's primary role is domestic is a persistent and damaging stereotype. I’m very against the thought of not giving equal opportunities and suppressing their true potential. 

My Small Acts of Rebellion 

So, there is this one time when I did something out of the box; that is, I did something that people around me kept me away from doing for a long time, “because I’m a girl.” My family was so against cutting my long hair, especially my grandma. I didn’t give two damns; I went, I chopped my hair into a bob, and I came back dancing and grinning while she sat there staring dead in my eyes. My family is so strict about not letting us (girls) out at night. Well… Once I took my bike out to the market at 9 pm, bought an ice cream, enjoyed the night, and came home. 

My Message to My Younger Self 

If I’m given a chance to time-travel to meet my younger self and say one thing, I’d say, “Stand on your ground; don’t let people break your dream using gender stereotypes.” My dream is still a dream; I let myself off the hook. I wasn’t strong on my words, and I still regret it. 

One thing I'm gonna tell every woman: No matter what people say, they can only sit behind and judge you, but they won’t hold you and stand by you… So, don’t give a damn about them and march towards your dreams.
